The Academy Hair and Beauty Training School
About The Academy Hair and Beauty Training School:
The Academy’s Mission Statement is:
The Academy Hair and Beauty Training School began in 1976 at the campus on Rosemary Street in Belfast. Since then the school has expanded to a further four campuses; a second in Belfast and one in Newry, Ballymena and our newest campus in Portadown. The Academy Hair and Beauty Training School provides training in NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 in hairdressing and beauty therapy under the Training for Success and ApprenticeshipsNI programmes funded by the Department for Employment and Learning and are offered across all campuses. The Academy welcomes students aged 16 to 24 years old.
The Academy’s provision of outstanding training, including leadership and management, quality of teaching and learning and standards and outcomes was recognised by the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI), firstly in 2006, when they provided us with their highest possible level of confidence in our quality and awarded the Academy Grade 1 right across the provision. By sustaining and improving upon the quality of our provision with the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement, the Academy was awarded the accolade of Grade 1s, again in April 2010 and in May 2012, an unprecedented achievement within the hairdressing and beauty industry both locally and nationally.
The quality and depth of experience the organisation can demonstrate in delivering high quality training programmes and the accolades received from the Department from Employment and Learning (DEL), the Education Training Inspectorate (ETI), City and Guilds and the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) place the Academy in a perfect position to deliver similar programmes within the future Training for Success and ApprenticeshipsNI programmes.
As a modern and contemporary organisation we take immense pride in continuing and consolidating our achievements, our reputation and our best practice. The Academy is also recognised internationally as a sector leader in widening access to training and education. It is core to our mission as a provider of quality training that all those with the ability to learn should have an equal opportunity of benefiting from training irrespective of circumstances or background.
The Academy welcomes diversity and inclusion as it enriches life at the Academy for all. Our primary focus is the individual learner to develop their talents and potential which will ultimately lead to progression and the achievement of full time employment.
