Positive Futures is a leading local charity supporting children, young people and adults with a learning disability throughout Northern Ireland.
Our innovative services and enthusiastic employees enable those we support to live as independently as possible, be actively involved in the life of their local communities and enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else.
An Overview of our Services
Supported Living / Floating Support / Peripatetic Housing Support
These models of service offer support from trained staff to enable individuals with a learning disability to live as independently as possible in their own homes, in their own areas, with people of their choice.
These services are located across Bangor, Belfast, Magherafelt, Cookstown, Omagh, Lisnaskea and Newry and support some 66 adults with learning disability.
Adult Placement / Short Break Services
Positive Futures provides breaks or longer stays for people with a learning disability either with an individual, a family or in a specialist residential service. Across Northern Ireland we support over 78 adults.
Family Support Service support families with a child with a learning disability and extend access to mainstream leisure and social provision through the use of community development approaches.
This model of service, which began with a pilot in Lisburn, has been very positively evaluated and is currently being replicated in Bangor (Ulster Community & Hospitals Trust) and South East Fermanagh (Sperrin Lakeland Trust). Positive Futures supports in excess of 66 children and families.
