MCS Group are currently partnering exclusively with one of County Down's genuine success stories as they seek to expand their existing business development team. The newly created Business Development Manager position will have a specific remit to win and grow accounts in the GB market and will be joining a business that has already shown significant growth in recent times.

Our client are a locally owned food producer who are based in scenic surrounds near to the Mourne Mountains. The Business Development Manager is a new role joining existing counterparts in the team. The key difference in the new position is that the role will focus entirely on winning new business from the GB market. The role will be based here in County Down but will require some travel to GB to meet with customers, and will be largely self-directed in terms of the approach the new Business Development Manager wishes to take to achieve targeted growth.
The role will involve targeting retail and food service clients to sell a range of fresh and frozen food products, including meat, and benefits from it's Northern Irish base through the removal of any potential barriers to trade resulting from ongoing Brexit disputes. The successful candidate will be asked to map the market and then infiltrate, moving accounts from likely beginnings with branded products to pursue opportunities to take on own label business and maximise returns.
The ideal Business Development Manager should be:
- An experienced business development professional with a proven track record within sales
- Able to demonstrate a successful track record of winning new business
- Experienced within and knowledgeable of FMCG markets, in particular retail and/or food service
- Experience selling into the GB market would be desired but not essential
This is a key position for our client and central to future growth plans. As such, our client will seek to tailor the package to meet the needs of the right candidate and ensure that the best person to take this on is appointed.
