The services of Hays have been retained by our client, an established architectural practice based in Belfast, to recruit individuals for upcoming Clerk of Works contract positions.
Your new role
Our client undertakes a lot of work within the education sector and have projects currently on-site as well as in the design stage. They have a requirement for Clerk of Works resource to oversee 2-3 live projects.
Your main duties will include:
Inspect the works at various stages of construction and provide written reports on compliance with Specification and Statutory Regulations, as well as standards of workmanship and materials;
Advise the Project Manager of any non-compliance that requires urgent attention;
Measure the works carried out at various stages of construction, including but not limited to ground works, foundations, services excavations, first fix, second fix and completion;
Provide written reports of measurements and dimensions, with particular reference to any variations from the proposed measurements, or any aspect of the work that could give rise to a compensation event;
Carry out surveys, prepare written reports and assist the Project Manager in the preparation of schedules of defects;
Prepare formal documents and reports in relation to weekly progress, defects, materials and installation testing, handovers, redecoration, practical completions etc. as required;
Make and retain a complete record of all relevant matters, including completing forms, maintaining a daily diary and taking/storing digital photographs.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will be a time-served craftsperson or hold a third level qualification in a construction related subject with experience working as a Clerk of Works on large-scale construction projects. This is not essential, however, and the client are willing to speak with individuals who can demonstrate related experience.
What you'll get in return
An immediate start is available on an ongoing contract basis. There is the potential that you can work 2 days per week on an individual project or undertake multiple projects to ensure that you work full-time hours. You will be paid for all hours worked via Hays on a weekly basis (BACS transfer).
