Hays are delighted to present you with an exciting opportunity to secure a permanent position as an Estimator/Bid Manager with a growing family owned, medium sized contractor based in L'Derry. Your new company has built an enviable reputation within the local construction industry for the delivery of bespoke, high quality projects over a wide and varied range of construction sectors. They have completed projects in all sectors of the construction industry including hotels, apartment blocks, social housing complexes, commercial and retail parks, civil engineering works as well as private house contracts. Due to continued growth our client wishes to invest in an ambitious, experienced Estimator/Bid Manager to join their growing team.
Your new role
You will be responsible for all pre-construction functions, ensuring control and completion of all enquires through to tender completion. This includes working closely with the contracts teams to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work in a tender. For this you will have to prepare a final tender price for review with company directors prior to submission. A Quality submission is expected with the tender price. You will use your industry experience and knowledge to liaise with Quantity Surveyors to evaluate and analyse subcontractor's costs/ estimates to assist with the continued growth and development of the company.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be degree educated in a construction related discipline, and will have at least 4 years of previous experience in an Estimating/Bid Manager role. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of tendering and winning build projects with a strong working knowledge of construction and engineering contracts. Additionally you must be proficient in Microsoft packages including outlook, word and excel. Experience in the use of construction software packages is desirable. As a person you will be a team player who is able to work in a fast paced environment, well-organised and has a hands on approach to projects.
