A main contractor that has been established for 30 years, they have experience in producing high quality building projects across Northern Ireland. Working on projects up to £10m in value, their portfolio includes health, educational, social and private housing, mixed commercial and transport projects. Recognised for their dedication to delivering innovative, high quality solutions they have cemented their position as one of Irelands leading construction companies. Due to continued expansion, my client now requires an ambitious Buyer who is eager to progress within a key role in their Commercial Team.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager you will provide weekly and monthly reports on the cost and progress of projects which will range from £1m to £10m. Our client requires a procurement specialist to join their commercial team and assess requirements for materials on a variety building projects across Northern Ireland. You will be responsible for arranging the cost effective purchase of the materials to an acceptable quality standard as well as occasionally negotiating and agreeing sub-contractor packages. You will be office based in their head office in County L'Derry.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a third level degree in a construction related discipline, and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in procurement for a main contractor. You will have a minimum of 2 years' experience. You will have effective communication skills to deal with the operational team and subcontractors on daily basis. You must be ambitious, commercially astute, and keen to establish yourself as a Buyer with a successful main contractor who will be offering you a long-term view.
