My client, a leading food manufacturing company in Dungannon is recruiting for an Environmental Engineering Officer on a full-time, permanent contract working Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00.
Your new role
As the Environmental Engineering Officer you will be a key member of the Health, Safety & Environmental team and you will provide support on all matters relating to environmental and energy legislation within the business. With guidance from the Divisional Health & Safety and Environmental Manager and Group Environmental & Engineering Teams you will promote the Environmental, Energy and Sustainability agenda across the business with a focus on compliance and culture. You will be responsible for the implementation of natural resource efficiency campaigns and initiatives to reduce environmental / energy impact. You will investigate and research viable opportunities to improve regulatory compliance and the sites ways of working to reduce environmental impacts with a focus on cost saving. You will complete environmental impact assessments for major pollution sources & check mitigations are implemented. The Environmental Engineering Officer will actively support the site management teams to meet Environmental and Energy KPI's and targets, compiling weekly and monthly reports, with a focus on root cause, corrective action and continuous improvement. Managing & monitoring Waste Contractors, Odour, Noise, Wastewater / Sludge and any other environmental testing as required an understanding. Additionally, you assist the HS&E Manager with coaching for managers and colleagues on a wide range of Environmental compliance, engineering and energy related matters.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role of Environmental Engineering Officer you must have an industry recognised qualification in Environmental, Sustainability and/or Engineering. You will be highly organised with strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues across all levels of business. Ideally you will have experience of ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO50001. Knowledge or experience of continuous improvement & lean techniques would be preferred. Experience of managing budgets would be advantageous but not essential.
