Job opportunities for unemployed (Age 18+)
Trainee Commis Chefs
Location: Bangor & North Down
Four weeks training course leading to job opportunities for the unemployed (aged 18+).
The Department for the Economy in conjunction with The Ava Group, Romas Bar and Bistro, Underground Dining, The Boathouse, The Salty Dog and Harbour and Co has developed a training programme to meet the needs of the company.
Previous experience is not essential but applicants should:
- be flexible,
- be motivated with a can-do attitude,
- be willing to work as part of a team,
- carry out tasks quickly and competently,
- follow instructions,
- have an interest in preparing food,
- remain calm under pressure, and
- work on your own and use your initiative.
In the event that short listing is required, an aptitude test and the following desirable criteria may be used to select applicants for interview.
- Previous experience of working in a professional kitchen.
The selection process for a training place will include an information day and an interview.
Starting pay after Bridge to Employment training is as follows:
National Living Wage dependent on age.
