Quantity Surveyor required by a large public body based in Antrim on an ongoing temporary contract basis
Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body based in Antrim, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor on a temporary contract basis for an initial period of 3-6 months with the possibility of further extension.
Your new role
Working within the existing team, you will ensure the provision of a professional quantity surveying service for the organisations capital and revenue projects / construction contracts.
This will include:
Undertake initial feasibility cost studies;
Monitor project costs from inception to completion including the preparation of regular financial reports; Contribute to written reports including estimates of capital and revenue costs with conclusions and recommendations;
Advise on the cost of alternative design and construction options;
Prepare and maintain and develop a detailed cost plan and cash flow forecast;
Facilitate, set up and manage value management / value engineering exercises if the estimate exceeds the project budget;
Visit site periodically and assess the progress of works for interim payment purposes;
Assess any contractor's claims for an extension of time / adjustment to the contract sum and advise the Project Manager with regards to same.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should possess:
A recognised Quantity Surveying qualification with industry experience working as a Quantity Surveyor. This will ideally include:
Experience of cost managing capital projects;
Knowledge of contract administration arrangements of various forms of contract (JCT, GC Works, NEC); Knowledge of the PSA Schedule of Rates;
Knowledge of Building and Engineering Measured Term Contracts.
What you'll get in return
This position offers an immediate start and the opportunity to work with a large public body on a temporary contract basis. Whilst the initial duration is for a period of 3-6 months, there may be the opportunity for this to be extended until April 2020.
Our client has a few different offices and there is flexibility on where you will primarily be based, subject to your preference.
You will be paid via Hays on a weekly basis for all hours worked.
