One of the world's leading professional services businesses is currently recruiting for a Construction Solicitor to join the growing team in Belfast City Centre and work closely with the firms' our contentious and non-contentious construction teams based in London and internationally.
Your new role
In your new role as a Construction Solicitor your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
You'll support both contentious and non-contentious work, including carrying out adjudications, preparing claims assessments, supporting the London team on an ad hoc basis, including interviewing witnesses and preparing witness statements. On the non-contentious side, leading on transactional due diligence, advising on procurement, and contract preparation/management of deliverables.
You'll lead on client matters, including negotiation and the preparation of proposals, estimates and pitches; delegate work to juniors, supervising the team to support optimal utilisation; keep manager(s) and partner(s) informed and monitor and control progress against agreed objectives, scope, timelines and budgets. You'll regularly engage with internal/external client and keep informed of progress; ensure all compliance and risk management processes are followed; propose fees and manage client expectations as to cost, quality and time; and seek opportunities for new work with existing and new clients.
You'll extend effective relationships across the global network; contribute to the development of team members; uphold the firm's values; contribute to the firm's initiatives; take steps to cultivate an excellent reputation and profile in the market and internally; attend marketing/industry events and draft or help prepare articles, precedents and know-how materials; lead the development and delivery of training and presentations. You'll comply with risk requirements, firm policies and all relevant professional responsibilities and legislation and contribute to billing, engagement and client acceptance processes.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong academic track record. You'll ideally have at least 4 years' relevant PQE (private practice or in-house). You'll ideally have proven non-contentious experience, including experience of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, FIDIC and NEC). You'll have the ability to manage numerous matters concurrently and work across multiple sectors.
