Hays are working in partnership with a recognised Public Body Client to recruit for a Structures Examinations Engineer who will manage the detailed examination and inspection programmes for all the Company's structures assets, such as Bridges, Culverts, Embankment & Cuttings, Tunnels, Coastal Embankment Structures, Retaining Walls, Signal Structures, Platform Walls and Ancillary Structures. With around 3,800 employees across various locations throughout the province, this company is one of Northern Ireland's largest employers who has 50+ years' experience in providing quality services throughout Northern Ireland. Due to a consistent pipeline of work leading into 2021, this organisation now seeks a Project Manager to join their growing team.
Your new role
As a Structures Examination Engineer will be responsible for the management of the detailed examination and visual inspection programmes of all railway structures assets, ensuring that comprehensive reports are provided to show their condition, maintenance requirements and to inform decisions for their structural integrity for the safe passage of trains. You will be responsible for providing information to the Structures Maintenance Engineer on the current condition of the Structures' asset base to enable decisions to be taken on the performance and safe operation of the structural assets within the database. This role encompasses the full asset management service including detailed examination, inspection, evaluation, interpretation, and identification of interventions. Whilst reporting to the Structures Maintenance Engineer, you will provide assistance for both Maintenance and Capital Works schemes required to manage the structures portfolio.

What you need to succeed
You will need to be qualified to Degree level in Civil / Structural Engineering, or other such relevant discipline Chartered Engineer in Civil or Structural Engineering from a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE, IStructE, EI). The right candidate will have at least 5 years post graduate experience in design, inspection, and examination, construction and supervision of civil engineering projects Experience working within a multidisciplinary Design/ Construction Team Understand Health & Safety Requirements relating to Construction
