Hays are working in partnership with a top UK consultancy to recruit for a Senior Drainage Engineer based in their Belfast office. This consultancy provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy and Water Markets with key clients being market leaders. Due to a growing workload they are now keen strengthen their existing drainage design team.

Your new role

The consultancy is looking for a strong collaborator, you should be capable of supporting their local team within Belfast but also deliver on remote projects as part of the companies' national practice.

Your role would include leading the design of drainage designs from concept to detailed design and construction, as stand-alone projects or as part of larger multi-disciplinary schemes. You will be promoting development of digital solutions in drainage design including full integration of designs within the BIM environment. Your role will include overseeing and reviewing the production of drainage designs, models, calculations, and drawings to relevant standards, including providing technical assurance of designs. You will determine and assign drainage design tasks and managing delivery to programme and budget as well as leading and encouraging the technical development of graduates and technicians in the drainage discipline.

What you need to succeed

You will need to be a professionally qualified engineer with the ICE, CIWEM or similar. You will have the ability to design all aspects of drainage from conceptual layout to detailed design and have a familiarity with hydraulic design software, 3D design tools and BIM. You should have the ability to prepare reports and specifications and to collect other data and statistics necessary for the preparation of progress and technical reports. Candidates are required to be self-motivated and able to work both independently as well as within a larger multi-disciplinary team in leading and managing packages of work to completion.
