Quantity Surveyor required by a large Housing Authority based in Belfast on an ongoing contract basis
Your new company
We are recruiting on behalf of a large social landlord based in Belfast for a Quantity Surveyor on a temporary contract basis for an initial period of 3 months with the possibility of further extension.
Your new role
Working within the existing team, you will ensure the effective commercial management of our client's assets, of high quality Planned Works and Compliance related investment to regions within the relevant area of operation.
This will include:
Preparing or assisting in the development of specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and schedule of rates to enable the invitation of tenders and quotations;
Providing support on the correct interpretation of contract terms and conditions, ensuring that commercial risk is effectively managed;
Ensuring the affordable delivery of the investment programme, the effective management and monitoring of budgets in respect of your function including undertaking regular benchmark reviews, forecasting, cash-flow projections and monitoring;
Receiving tenders and quotations, evaluating prices, checking documents and preparing agreements and contracts;
Assisting with the regular dialogue between contractors and consultants to ensure effective progress of work.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should satisfy one of the following requirements:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline plus at least 2 years' relevant post qualification experience, Or;
Possess a BTEC Higher or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline plus at least 3 years' relevant post qualification experience.
Relevant experience must include:
Demonstrable knowledge of building construction;
Demonstrable knowledge of standard methods of measurement;
Bill of quantities software packages such as CATO;
Use of software packages such as Microsoft Office.

This position offers an immediate start and the opportunity to work with a large public body on a temporary contract basis. Whilst the initial duration is for a period of 3 months, there may be the opportunity for this to be extended.
You will be paid via Hays on a weekly basis for all hours worked.
