Fire Safety Officer required by the NI Housing Executive to work from their offices in Belfast
Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), to recruit a Fire Safety Officer (Risk Assessor) to work out of their office in Belfast.
Your new role
Reporting to the Fire Safety Compliance Manager, you will be part of a team that implements, monitors and reviews NIHE Fire Safety Policies, Processes and Procedures, ensuring the NIHE is fully compliant with its statutory and regulatory undertakings.
Your main duties will include:
Responsibility for Fire Safety Management in collaboration with other departments, professions and organisations (internally and externally) to ensure the delivery of a customer focused service;
Assist in the compilation, implementation and operation of policies, procedures, protocols and guidance in relation to Fire Safety;
Fulfil the role of a competent person with sufficient training and experience or knowledge to undertake Fire Risk Assessments;
Undertake a range of comprehensive technical and management Fire Safety audits / inspections, produce reports to ensure organisational compliance with statutory requirements, issue appropriate Action Plans / reports and to positively promote best practice and ensure continual improvement in respect of Fire Safety throughout the organisation;
Use AutoCAD to collate and capture various Premises in terms of layout drawings and proposals to Building Regulations standards and Fire Safety compliance and manage and maintain key compliance information such as Premises drawings, Fire Safety records and Fire Risk Assessments.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position you should possess:
A Degree or higher qualification in Architecture / Building Surveying and a minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience, or;
A BTEC Higher Certificate / Diploma in a Technical Discipline with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
Ideally, you will possess knowledge and experience of Building Regulations and Fire Safety Engineering.
Relevant experience should include:
Experience in successful project management;
Experience in the use of AutoCAD
Experience in both assessing and achieving Building Regulation Fire Safety Compliance across a range of domestic and "non-domestic" properties;
Experience of assisting in the delivering of Fire Safety training;
Experience developing and implementing Fire Safety policies, procedures and protocols;
Experience providing Fire Safety advice, guidance and support;
Experience facilitating organisational forums for the effective management, communication, consultation and dissemination of relevant Fire Safety information;
Experience in developing, facilitating and undertaking a range of Fire Risk Assessment compliance and associated Actions Plans.

The role offers an immediate start where you will get the opportunity to work for a large Housing Body on a long-term temporary contract basis.
The role will be employed via Hays in the first instance with weekly payment via BACS transfer with all business mileage expenses being reimbursed.
The role allows for an excellent work-life balance with the working hours amounting to 37 per week along with an annual holiday entitlement of 33 days, inclusive of stats.
