Hays are delighted to be working with one of the Northern Ireland's leading Build & Fit-Out Contractors to assist in their search for a Design Manager. With continuous growth in recent years and an enviable client base throughout the UK & ROI, they operate across the Healthcare, Retail, Commercial, Education, and Residential sectors and seek the right individual to join the company on a permanent basis and contribute to their continued success.
Your new role
As Design Manager you'll be responsible for managing the overall project design on a range of education, leisure and high end residential projects in the region of £15million - £35million. This will include appointing, managing and monitoring progress of consultants, designers and specialist sub-contractors. You'll ensure the design is progressed in such a way that all contracted deliverables are achieved while maximising commercial opportunities and ensuring that all design information is released in lines with the requirements of the project construction programme and procurement schedule. Whilst currently restrictions are limiting ability to travel for site visits, this role normally involve 2-3 days per week UK travel.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll ideally have at least 3 years' experience as a Design Manger or have led design teams on multi million pound projects through to completion on site. You'll be incredibly organised and have knowledge of all aspects of construction. You'll have experience of document management, managing teams from different disciplines, proven experience creating coordinated, clear and coherent designs and experience within a supervisory or organisational role within the construction industry. You'll have a design or construction related degree and a CSR or CSCS card. A working knowledge of BIM would be an advantage. This contractor are also interested in applications from Architects / Architectural Technologists who have worked to a senior level encompassing the requirements / duties listed above.
