Building Surveyor (stock condition surveys / PPM) required by a public body on a temporary contract basis
Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body based in Belfast, to recruit a Building Surveyor with experience of carrying out stock condition surveys for the purposes of PPM. This role is initially offered on a temporary contract basis for a period of 6-12 months with the possibility of further extension.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will be required to assist in the delivery of the organisations planned maintenance programme. This will involve the following key duties:
Carry out a comprehensive condition survey of the client's physical estate to assess the condition of the building fabric and compliance with relevant statutory requirements;
Identify works required for ongoing maintenance and forecast an annual planned maintenance programme; Manage external consultants and contractors to ensure that works being undertaken are delivered on time and to the highest quality possible, while ensuring minimal disruption to business as usual practices;
Carry out inspections of works undertaken to ensure that jobs follow health and safety protocol;
Report the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the Head of Estates.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should satisfy the following essential criteria: Hold a degree in a building / property / construction related discipline with 3 years post qualification experience in the delivery of planned maintenance, OR;
Possess a BTEC, HNC/HND in a building / property / construction related discipline with 5 years post qualification experience in the delivery of planned maintenance.
You should be able to demonstrate experience of:
Developing and managing a programme of planned maintenance projects;
Carrying out surveys to identify the condition of buildings.
