GLL College, the training arm of the UK's largest public leisure provider, is looking for a Skills Developer in Belfast to be part of a new professional training team that will provide apprentices with the learning, development and confidence they need to build great careers in the sport and leisure industry. We've partnered with Belfast Metropolitan College and Belfast City Council to offer a range of apprenticeships and short course training programmes in sport and leisure to complement the £105 million leisure transformation project taking place in the city right now - bringing high-end leisure provision to more local communities.
As Skills Developer, you'll be responsible for delivering training across Belfast and supporting GLL College in the delivery and coordination of training and assessment to our apprenticeship programmes and leisure employment academies plus internal and commercial courses that are provided to the public and other businesses. Reporting to the College's Development Manager and National Apprenticeship Manager, you'll ensure learning targets, programmed activity and commercial targets are met in line with the GLL College KPIs.
As this is a brand new role, you'll have the opportunity to really influence how this role will evolve. You'll spend time developing and implementing systems and processes within set time frames to enable the College to operate and deliver quality training programmes both within Northern Ireland and on a national basis.
An experienced Skills Developer, you'll have accredited and recognised teaching and assessment qualifications, and ideally have achieved (or be working towards) a level 3 or above management qualification. You'll have experience of delivering and assessing quality training including funded apprenticeship programmes, ideally within an active leisure environment. Excellent communication skills will be key as you'll build relationships with a variety of staff and external partners such as our preferred training providers, awarding organisations and external apprenticeship departments.
In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:
- Pension schemes
- Ride to work scheme
- Discounted membership at our leisure centres
- The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events
- Career pathways
- Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
If you want to lead on these new training initiatives, helping to bring more skills and employment to Northern Ireland, as a wealth of new health and sporting facilities are introduced, APPLY NOW.
Closing date: 27th October 2019
All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications and location.
To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
