We are currently recruiting for a DP Accountant for the Belfast area. This will be a full-time temporary role, Monday to Friday consisting of 37 hours per week. This vacancy is expected to last for 5 months.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Management of the Casework Committee - provide secretariat, review economic appraisals, and prepare submissions to the Accounting Officer and the Department
-Test Drilling - Responsibility for the annual DfE 'Test Drilling' review across DfE and its NDPBs and for providing assurance to the Accounting Officer on the standard of business cases
-PAC and NIAO reports - Assist with provision of advice to the Permanent Secretary and Minister on draft NIAO reports as required
-Assist with the preparation and quality assurance of appropriate briefing for PAC hearings
-RHI Inquiry - Assist with the preparation and quality assurance of departmental response to RHI Inquiry report
-Provide financial, governance, delegation and adhoc advice as required.
-Prepare Finance returns for the branch -profiling, accruals, and budgeting returns
-Maintain the Risk Register and the Business plan for the branch.
-Prepare PPE lessons learned reports and disseminate throughout department
1)Have successfully passed the professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the following bodies
-Chartered Accountants Ireland;
-The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
-The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
-The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
-The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
-The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
-The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
2)Have at least a total of 2 years post qualification* experience, gained within the last 5 years in any one of, or combination of, the following categories.
-Preparing or auditing complete Annual Report and Accounts and /or Management Accounts;
-Preparing, managing and monitoring budgets and the allocation of resources;
-Developing, auditing or implementing large computerised financial systems
Post qualification experience will be deemed to have commenced from the date on which the candidate was admitted to full membership of one of the professional bodies referred to at 1, having fully satisfied all the criteria for membership.
