YOUR NEW ROLE
To pro-actively assist in the development and implementation of policies , initiatives and good practice to ensure that equality and diversity issues are embedded in all activities across the organisation . This position is part f the HR department and working within the E and D team. You will report to the Head of the unit and there is a clerical member of the team. Provide specialist advice and guidance to Senior Managers, HR Colleagues and staff across the University to ensure that best practice in equality and diversity matters is implemented.
Develop and maximise the use of HR information systems to ensure that trends and emerging equality and diversity issues are identified.
Ensure proactive strategies and action plans are developed and implemented to address equality issues and, where appropriate, under-representation in relation to minority groups.
Analyse data and produce regular equality/management reports as required for senior management to ensure the University meets its statutory obligations under NI equality legislation and to inform future policy. eg article 55 report, Section 75 screening, Equality Impact Assessments.
Carryout equal pay audits, identifying and investigating gaps and preparing reports including recommendations for senior management to address any unjustifiable gaps and to inform future policy.
Take a lead role in researching and developing policy initiatives which impact across the University to ensure that the University is recognised for good practice in relation to equality and diversity.
Investigate internal equal opportunities grievances and harassment complaints at all levels across the University.
Take a lead role in co-ordinating and preparing the University and/or individual School/Department submissions for charter marks or accreditations e.g. Athena Swan.
Deliver equality/diversity training throughout the University to all levels of staff to ensure that staff are aware of the University's equality policies and the responsibility of each individual to comply with the policies.
Keep fully up to date with changes and developments in equality legislation and best practice and to provide advice to senior management accordingly.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCEED An Honours Degree.
A successful evidence-based, track record in A HR role within a, complex organisation which includes:
- A sound knowledge and understanding of equality legislation and methods for addressing, monitoring and evidencing
- A proven track record of working as part of a team to address a significant HR challenge.
- Successful management of complex projects from design through to implementation.
- Proven experience of analysing and interpreting management information to draw conclusions and make realistic and relevant recommendations in relation to equality and diversity issues.
- Experience of successfully embedding equality and diversity issues within an organisation's culture and achieving positive outcomes.
- Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating training.
-Excellent IT skills with the ability to manipulate analyse and interpret data, preparing reports which will inform decision making.
-Excellent oral/written, communication, interpersonal skills.
-Ability to communicate with and influence people at all levels both internally and externally.
-Evidence of well-developed planning and organisation capabilities.
Chartered membership of CIPD (MCIPD).
Experience of preparing for organisational submissions to meet statutory compliance e.g. s75, article 55 reports.
Proven advanced skills in the following software (or equivalent): Databases e.g. Excel, Access, Report Writing e.g. SQL, Crystal. Page
