Search for 2013 Apprentice of the Year begins!
Dr Stephen Farry, Employment and Learning Minister, today launched the Apprentice of the Year awards for 2013.
Speaking about the competition, which is open to successful candidates who have made a real difference to their own future and to the organisation they work for, Minister Farry said:
“Apprenticeships offer young people the opportunity to build knowledge and skills, gain qualifications and earn money all at the same time. With well over 11,000 apprentices in Northern Ireland, in a diverse range of sectors, apprenticeships are a popular route to a successful career. These awards are our opportunity to applaud the apprentices advancing their careers through training, as well as recognising employers who are investing in the skills of their workforce by supporting apprenticeships.”
If you think you’ve got what it takes – or you know someone who does – the nominations for the four categories are now open:
- Apprentice of the Year.
- Most Promising First Year Award.
- Recognition Award.
- Innovation in Partnership Award (for Employers and Training Suppliers).
Dr Farry also highlighted the recent ApprenticeshipsNI advertising campaign which shows how apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to harness new talent or indeed train an existing employee.
He finished by commenting, “ I would encourage all apprentices, employers and training partners to gain the recognition you deserve by entering the competition, which I hope will have a record number of applications. The quantity and standard of entries to this competition year on year demonstrates and acknowledges the important role of employers, training suppliers and the apprentice in the training process.”
